Why not have it auto update? or well, never mind, that would probley shut down the power while updateing I'm almost guessing.
Exactly: yes, it has to shut down in order to update (as it reprograms the main CPU as well). This--as well as security--is why there is no way to auto-update the inverter remotely.
Well, if you going to have it be able to throw up a web page, and change settings could downloading the .bin file if that what the firmware is packed as be included on uploading the changes to the gs inverter from a computer? Seemed like it could be done. or have it send a code to the GS inverter connect back to the selected wifi name and download update and apply?
Might be more then it can do. Just a thought.
Since I know you said its only got 2megs to play with 😛

I believe that would be very possible. Lots of options...but a lot of work required to get 'em useable ;-).
Probably I'll try to make a "front-end" page that you can connect to, and have a button to click for applying an update.

Yes, that was my thought, but with you saying your limited to only 2 meg on the board, not sure how far you can go.
Now that I've probably thoroughly confused you on the forum... 🤯.
Thanks for the idea of a separate thread to discuss firmware stuff in. Took me a moment to figure out how to move the posts over...
Yep, no problem. I figured it was off topic for what we was talkinga bout, so I made a new Thread for it. 😛 Since I am not a fourm admin I was going to suggest moving it to the new one, but I see you done it.
Funny thing is, if I was working for Sean, I could used this forum for various questions as a knowledge Base. Of course I most likely would have a direct line to Sid if its one of those odd ball questions. Like, how do I hook it up to a Horse pulled Merry Go Around to power the GS inverter. I would definitely call Sid up since he is the master mind of all!!!

While you are doing that, there needs to be another section under PowerJack. Like "All Other PowerJack Items". You do know they make a step up/step down transformer unit , correct?
Not aware of it, though I am aware of their gas powered generator unit 😉

Sid you don't know me I ordered a couple 6000gs at beginning I'm in no hurry. Alphabetically Tim Turner.used to it.your probably way ahead of me but what about Bluetooth and thumb drive for updates?.
I'm not to great at tech it will take me a bit to get used to the forum.

As far as I am aware, no USB or bluetooth is in the GS inverter, its WiFi only. Sid might consider that later in a version upgrade on the GS board, but I think it does not have it.
