Maybe its time to upgrade to a Mac? *snickers* Linux is cool, sometimes a bit of too much terminal. Lol
Would concur then that there's possibly something wrong with the unit...if it only ever runs strip heat, there's an issue (especially if it's above freezing outside).
Yep, ever if its 50f outside it kicks it on. Will have it checked, I know it sucks power and its the biggest sucker ofem all when it kicks on.

Less than you might think, actually--at least these days. More often than not, I'm in Terminal to run a Python script--not to change system settings or config. Though yes, there is still a good bit of Terminal use to fully access Linux's abilities...features that Windoze could only dream of.
I'm definitely not switching to a product that tells you right on the packaging that there's something missing. Apple is such a closed ecosystem that they're an absolute pain to deal with from a developers perspective.
Last great Windows OS was Windows 7. After that, I ended up having to ditch it, as I found myself slowly losing control of my computer. How in the world did we get to the place where you tell your computer to shut down...and find yourself staring at a screen saying, "Do not turn off your computer"??
*laughs* Geesh, I remeber back then when getting Sudo, devien, and other type of discos, hell I had Lindows which got sued by Micro$oft. I loved that OS then BeOs was kind of cool. Those were the good old days, at least Raspberry pie is Linux, that is how I'm useing my 3d printer, its the only way i can use the thing lol. and I have to do sudo this m206 z1.25
m500
m211 s0
Lol. 😛
Hopefully not pulling this thread too far off topic, 🙂 , but I've been using linux on the desktop for a few years now. My own bugbear has been video playback, but it seems that mint + cinnamon solved the problems I had. I did use Windows 10 for a while but got sick of the constant uphill battle unbreaking what the forced upgrades broke, not to forget the ongoing privacy battle and forced installation of stuff I didn't ask for and didn't want. I still have a Windows 7 image that I can kick over in a VM for the rare occasion I have to do something with Windows (usually for a specific client of mine).
I played with BeOS a bit as the commercial operation was in its death throws, interesting in the days of Win 3.x / and other non-preemptive OSes but by the time it got anywhere near marketability the world had moved on.

Similar to my story you might say. Had Win7 on a dual-boot partition "just in case"...but after replacing my laptop's failing hard drive (this past Dec.), the dual-boot setup is completely broken. Haven't missed it.
Only real "bugaboos" that I have experienced have to do with drivers. Brother laser printer drivers work perfectly in Windoze...but the official Linux drivers are barebones and barely function (complex documents run the printer out of memory and fail to print--a problem the Windoze drivers don't have). Laptop docking station doesn't work in Linux--but you gotta love HP. Might not work on the '850 G1...but Linux on the '850 G2 works the docking station audio devices perfectly. They changed sound controller chipsets!
Currently using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Yeah, need to upgrade to Ubuntu 20...after I get enough projects taken care of that I'm not burned by being offline for a week.
Back on topic.
Have you sent theupdate to Sean yet? and if so, is it working?

4 hours in the day after I get back from work.......1.5 of those answering questions on the forum.......not to mention that I have a wife to not neglect.....
No, I haven't. Currently working on the manual for battery balancers, as Sean has those now. After finishing it, I need to get those listed on the website...
Tomorrow isn't going to be any good for me to get progress either...I'll barely have gotten home in time to get dinner, clean up, then need to head off to help teach some violin lessons.
Might have Thursday off work.

Let us know when they pop on the site, though Sean hasn't gave me my 10% code yet!!! lol. I think he owes me enou gh money back for few of those balancers
wait, you teach violin lessons. too bad you ain't close, I got one, and well I didn't relized until after buying one that if you don't watch it, the bridge is like only held by the pressure of the strings, I kind of said the heck with it after it fall apart lol. besides I do better with my Martin 12 string lol.

Can't add 'em to the website myself, insufficient permissions. Whatever, I'm off to bed.
Will have to work the discount code thing out with Sean...

The units we had would do a defrost when it hit 40° but would and did run down as low as 26° without kicking in a heat strip.
So any update on the GS inverts? I see the balancers on the web site, just no way to order them.

Sorta. Got sucker punched with a deadline on a commercial project utilizing customized GS inverters...trying my best to see if I can try to meet an impossible deadline...
If I can breathe a bit tomorrow (helps I'm off work then as well), I might be able to get the parallel inverter code tweak implemented and off to Sean for testing. Yes, I know, it's been FOREVER since you purchased them, but...if I can beg for a little bit more of the very empty stretched-out bin of patience...I'll get this pulled together.
Balancers are on the website, should be able to purchase them...? I will talk with Sean about sending you some complementary balancers...how many do you need for a set on your main battery bank? And what type (LiFePo4 or Li-Ion)?
