I bought an 8000 watt split phase power jack inverter, can you make it into a Genetry inverter? I still haven't had the time to test it, but from all that I have heard it will not cut it. I am building a solar generator back up for my house and I need an inverter that will run the basics.

Well....depends what you mean by "a Genetry inverter." Honestly, if you have an "8kw PJ inverter" and want a true 6kw GS inverter with all the bells and whistles...well, you basically throw the PJ out and buy a GS inverter. Unfortunately, there's pretty much nothing in a PJ inverter that can be used to make a better inverter.
- Transformer winding specification is the main limitation. No amount of software or control board tweaking can possibly fix this. The ASL3 / ASL4 core (if you're lucky) in the "8kw" PJ inverters even if completely rewound probably will only be able to fit ~4kw worth of wire on it anyhow. (For that matter, it's not possible to fit a 6kw GS transformer in an 8kw PJ chassis.)
- Mainboard can sorta/partially be used with up to 6kw (as per our discoveries), but for anything beyond that, it's not of value. (Requires several modifications for this to work well.)
- LCD board (if present) is of no value.
- PJ control board is obviously of no value. (Worth noting that the prototype new Rev. C board will not fit in a PJ chassis due to the large relays.)
- Chassis is not of much value either, being physically too small for any higher power endeavours. For that matter, it doesn't have much airflow ability.
Now, if you want a ~3kw inverter with a few more features...it's possible to upgrade the software side of things. Not sure what your expectations are.
I wasn't sure if you could use the bones of it to make one of yours or update it to be close to what you have. I'll have to save up for one of your then, thank you sir.
