The AMG 8000 watt with the rev 11.3 control board will shut down with red light alarm if over loaded every time and the FETs will alway be saved for unknown PJ new design
This is the model that I have. It has shut down numerous times, but can be reset. I was researching the Power Chokes, but I'm not sure that would aid a Power Jack AMG in terms of starting motors. It's more to protect the inverter from "noise" from the running appliance.

The choke inside the inverter on the primary will cur down the idle drain which PJ copy from the GS inverter and really work . The rev 11.3 control board will shut down numerous times and not blow up the FETs and be reset on my PJ 8 kw and on my 3 years old PJ 15 kw that now has the rev 11.1 control board also never blow the FETs . I gave up researching why as Sid say PJ NEVER re design anything and copy other inverter including copying the GS inverter that also happen to never blow up the FETs .
Power Jack is advising people with the new AMG inverters to add a choke on the AC side if starting "big motors". They sell 3 types from about $100 to $150.

I NEVER need a choke on the AC side . I do have a 2 and 1/2 inch choke on the positive 4/0 input battery cable to cut down the idle draw to 25 watts . That 25 watts compare to the sigineer 250 watts mean i save 6000 watts for my battery in 24 hours .
