Ebay sell new inverter for less than the parts cost of 300 dollars . IT can be set to 50 Hz .

Unfortunately that unit doesn't appear on the ebay UK site, so I guess they don't ship to UK. Also the quoted shipping time wouldn't meet my needs as I need to get one before end of Jan.
I'll keep looking patiently; working second-hand PJ's often pop up on ebay uk at reasonable prices.
A bit of a late follow up, but I managed to find a working secondhand PJ 3K on ebay which I got for 110GBP in late decemember. Did my usual modifcations to the cooling system (better fan, extra temperature switches). Only downside is that it is 12v rather than 24 so had to do some minor alterations to the battery wiring and charge controller configuration. But it survived the flight to Uganda and is working perfectly!
We all came back to the UK last weekend and came down with flu this week. Great :(.
