The power output L1 and L2 are different ?? Is it because of drive difference ? Output sense difference or

You mean L1-N and L2-N are several volts different at no load?

If so, this is due to the transformer being miswound; it's not a drive problem.  And yes, it's corrected on Genetry inverters 😉.

Also they only sense L2 output ????. Is there anyway to sense both easily ??

Should be just L1 sensed.  What are you attempting to do by sensing both?  (GS inverters can see total output power, but the CPU still only sees L1--used for charge.)

How do i PM Ben I'm not very computer savy??

Mouse over Ben's username...should pop out a menu, and at the bottom, there's "Send Message."

SID, do you have any idea how many turn-per-volt the 8000w inverter transformer is ? If not i am going to add some tuns and see. Thanks BigBOB

Very easy to measure: put your meter in AC volts (with the inverter running), pass one meter wire through the center of the toroid core, and short the 2 meter probes together.

For the AS2-AS3 core, I would say between 0.8-1v/turn.  The (comparatively huge) ASL-9 core is about 1.5v/turn.

wound 15t around the torroid transformer now the voltages are the same. So for anyone else that cares

it is 0.6667 v/turn so on mine i added 15 turns to bring it up 10v. so just use what ever voltage difference you get between L1 ans L2 subtract the higher one from the lower one and use that formula. In my case 10v low on l2.

so 10v/0.6667 = 15turns. also use the same size wire that they used. To add turns. also make sure you wind it in the same direction or if you wind it the opposite by accident swap the added winding  leads and then reconnect them if you make a mistake. One wind way adds voltage boost, the other way subtracts voltage buck.

That is all i got and if i made any mistakes here please tell me and i will correct it ok. don't want to confuse anyone.  BigBOB

If you really want to get down to it...they also use half as much wire on the L2 coil than on the L1 coil (or the other way around.)  Of course this results in the phases getting imbalanced under load due to the unequal voltage drop.

I've tried rewinding a PJ tranny once.  Don't have the patience to do it again 😉.

Sid, what does the small toroid do is it a coil to measure current or is it a hall effect device  ?

Thanks Big Bob

Could you be more specific as to which one?  There's 2 toroids on the tranny wires, and another sizeable tranny on the output board...which one are you asking about?

The one with 2 little wires coming out of it?  That would be a current transformer; technically not a hall sensor, but it can often be considered.  Used for the amp readout on the LCD screen

Thanks Sid I was just sitting there the other day and said duhhh it goes to the display. Thanks for clairifing that.

Will your boards upgrade a PJ unit and if so how much. Thanks again BigBOB

Currently, sorta.  Basically end up replacing everything except the mainboard and transformer...and before long here, the GS control boards will no longer be compatible with a PJ mainboard ("due to irreconcilable differences.")  That'll leave you with just the tranny--which is the weakest part of the whole inverter anyhow.

Sid are the osverter  boards any good ?    I have been reading alot about them Do you recommend any of their builds. I don't mine working on this stuff it's fun. I have plenty of time and i don't need all the fancy stuff.

Thanks again BigBOB
