Howdy.

I have a version 7 24v 8000w AS2 split phase that I've been very happy with. Bought it in January 2018.

I live completely off grid. I had several off brand inverters before the power jack. This is the first one that actually worked.

Notably, I could run my front load washer on one phase and my propane dryer on the other phase at the same time!

I couldn't even run 1 of those appliances before the power jack.

Given its age and 'other' abuse, I'm replacing the electronics and looking at some PJ upgrades.

BTW. When you have hooked up your ONAN 220v generator to the PJ charging circuit, put a switch on BOTH legs of the 220v line.

Make sure you only turn those switches on when you want to charge your batteries and/or power your appliances from the gen.

I was working on the onan and I reved the engine, sending about 300+ volts to the PJ.

Fortunately, the Protection caps AND the fuses blew and protected the PJ.

The charger still works.

Also, beware of a possible ground loop between the Onan/220v source and the PJ earth ground.

I zapped my self when I touched the onan and a piece of metal the PJ was grounded to.

I feel ya there...I had a HF (high-frequency) SwiPower 3kw inverter that so far goes down as the absolute worst inverter I've ever used.  Was cheap though 😉

After that one I got a PJ, and it was quite refreshing to be able to run things...

...but then I started wanting to run more things without it overheating...

...you know how it goes 😉

Technically, there are decoupling caps from the AC output legs (and battery terminals) to the chassis ground...these can give you a pretty good tingle.  Doesn't help that the caps tend to be from L1 - N to ground, meaning that the inverter chassis is floating at 60v with respect to a 240v "neutral".

Looks like you've got plenty of sunshine out there, great place to be off-grid!
