A quick 30 percent discount from your solar equipment purchases!

I was reading about the federal tax credit for solar installations.... I believe they call it the( ITC ) which stands for >>>>  investment tax credit

most of this 1st post is off the top of my head from reading about it a week or more ago....

it sounds like they passed legislation where it is increasing to 30 percent for solar equipment installed in the year 2023....

a tax credit is better than a tax deduction...

if you are taxed as most people are ( we need another Boston Tea party )

there is no maximum to the amount you can install for your residential solar project to get the Federal tax credit either....

there are various IRS rulings but it has to be installed to claim the deduction and the energy storage batteries will qualify if they are charged by the solar and the inverter, charge controllers and other equipment for the system....

I never seen this topic discussed so thought it would be good...

my solar photovoltaic system is off-grid and there are no state incentives in South Dakota where I am installing the system off-grid and there is no net metering so I would not hook up to the grid anyway,,, at least in South Dakota there is no net metering,,, so no need to pay for all that extra stuff to give them the excess solar production for nothing.... each year until about the year 2032 or later (I don't remember the exact date) you could continue to add additional equipment....

I have been investing in solar equipment for about 10 plus years maybe 12 or 13 years but a lot more heavily the last 4 - 5 years....

I still have a solar panel that I used in my 1990 f250 4x4 that made my battery last about 8 years.... a very good investment,,,,>>>> that small solar panel still works over 30 years later

more later,,,,🤔🤔😎

That is why  your Powerjack inverter  never blow up  with  30 years of playing with solar .     Powerjack inverter are not  junk  and you run them 24/7 .    Maybe you can buy  6 more returned   20kw PJ  and cost less than one GS 12kw .

I think the problems people have is they try to run too big of a load on their inverters without an adequate sized battery...According to Sid the  PowerJack 20000 watt inverters are only good for 7000 watts due to the internal design on the 20000 watt PowerJack inverters,,,but that is ok.... a 51 dollar Square D QO 70 amp panel adds more circuits inexpensively...

hard to say when the 12k will be available with the semiconductor shortages....and their continual tinkering and design changes...

it is fairly inexpensive to add a subpanel and put a few circuits on another inverter...i like the Square D QO electrical boxes for the subpanels....

I just ordered 3 more of the Square D QO 70 amp boxes that are outdoor rated (it gives me flexibility to mount it wherever I choose for not much more ) I bought them used in like new condition on eBay... for a mere 51 dollars including tax and shipping each!

I can't daisy chain the PowerJack inverters, but that is not much of a problem either.... i do not hook them to the grid and do not need that option....I do not need to babysit them with a WIFI board either... >>> then again they do not sell them for the price of a Victron inverter....

I only charge my LiFePO4 batteries via solar PV panels....

I was cleaning and adding some overhead shelves yesterday in the off-grid solar power shed....snow so had to scoop it and it was cold about 5 degrees below 0 Fahrenheit with the wind chill... but the solar power shed was a balmy 60 to 64 degrees...

hopefully warmer outside today with lots of sun!!!! December 1st is here already...

cheers from South Dakota 😎

That's frankly not being an issue for us.  If we were sourcing parts from the U.S.A, we'd be in an absolute pickle of a situation.  I honestly don't see how ANYONE could make any notable volume of PCBs in the States.  But almost all of the important specific parts are of Chinese origin (i.e. not even a U.S. brand to start with)...and to my knowledge at this time, there are NO issues with stocks of those.

My comments about the stocking situation of our current processor was more of an acknowledgment that I'm aware we at Genetry Solar have to think ahead and be prepared to switch to a different processor--so in the event that we are forced to switch, we aren't caught blindsided and unprepared.  We can still very much procure the current processor--but only from China.

We're always going to be tinkering and improving.  The 12kw design as it stands now is tested and fairly certain, it's just a matter of logistics at this point.

...any business must continue to innovate and improve, or it will stagnate and fall by the wayside.  You can look at car manufacturers that sold cars in the 1980s...and compare their product then to a 2022 model.  What they made in the 1980s may have been the best they could come up with at that point--but by gosh, there's a huge improvement if compared to their 2022 offering.

IF  business make no profit  then  not pay tax  and then  no tax credit .      Tax credit  only if  pay tax  I think .

You can carry over the credit from year to year.

Google that the  solar  credit  can be carry over  for only 5 years .     Seem like only rich people who pay a lot of taxes  will  benefit  .

if you invest 10000 on your solar , you get a 3000 dollar tax credit.

this a below the line credit for any tax you may owe...

if you spend 1000 dollars you would get a 300 dollar tax credit for solar equipment installed in the year 2023...

you could invest in more solar panels, more storage batteries, a better inverter, solar racking , inverter cables, pv wire etc....etc

they usually tax me at 20 percent and up, so I like to invest in the solar things, as it is by far the best return right now...

it will increase your personal property (home/residence) value.

they tax social security income in retirement also... so a tax credit is welcome for something I was doing anyway....installing more solar equipment at my personal residence...

car manufacturers that sold cars in the 1980s.

those cars sucked compared to the muscle cars of the 60's and 70's i liked my 429 cu inch GT Ford Fairlane and a lot of mopar products my friends had...

the 1968 Cadillac coupe de ville with a 472ci big block would glide with a smooth ride at 75 MPH

the 1970 Monte Carlo ss 454 would seem to fly on air at 140 MPH and was a blast to slide cookies on the ice on the lake in winter time...

they have made them less workable to the shade tree mechanic...

I think the electric cars may be good but not ready to be the early guinea pig buyer for them yet

I assembled computers and sold them on eBay in 2004 and 2005. no real money to be made except for selling hard drives was good then...

now i like the ssd drives better...

but dislike the new cars and all the wasteful engineering that they overcharge for and essentially sell with designed obsolescence built in so you buy another one...

lots of chineseum junk

low mileage 3000 dollar cars and trucks are my investments drivers, so only require liability insurance; but most 12-15 years old typically....I like the 1974 f250 Ford 4x4 highboys with manual transmissions also...easy for the shade tree mechanic and a good puller or snow plow rig...

guns are a good investment for feeding yourself with the local bounty...also🤔😎

cloudy out this morning but not much wind ...thanks for that....wind is terrible cold....

as the year is quickly winding down,,,, time to get the sharp pencil and excel spreadsheet tuned up...

cheers all, 😎 who care/dare to read my dribble!

have a great Friday...

I believe the federal tax credit is something like 26 percent for the year 2022.... for solar things.... wind power may fall in there also but not into the wind power much right now...

Federal tax credit for rich people  brcause  the farm owner has to pay cash or credit up front .   If your farm or business  is losing money then there is NO cash to pay up front to get the federal  tax credit .    Renter do not get the federal tax credit .

I have 2  identical 1997  Toyota Corolla with  over 300,000  miles  and driving everday  with  only  liability insurance .      NEW repair parts  are available from China  .   Toyota do not have parts  for older Corolla .

the tax credit in the year 2022 may have went back up as you indicate........need to look at it bit more. thanks for the reply...

they with hold 20 percent right off the bat so the federal tax credit will be a plus for me...

as it is a tax credit after all deductions >>> what you owe in taxes....a below the line dollar for dollar tax credit for taxes you owe...on your personal income tax return...

that nasty multi page tax gobbling time gobbling form... IRS 1040 long form...

if you are losing money,,,, then need to make more money,,, I worked two jobs most of my career and into retirement still can not sit around as my body demands I get up and move .... no body paid my way,,, if i wanted a car i bought it by working, if i wanted a 10 speed bicycle>>> same story.... you work to get ahead...

stock market??? who knows???

tools are a good investment as is rental real estate....

I don't gamble, so tools for working has always been a good investment hiring everything done....(not buying lottery tickets)

solar power just made better sense with the federal tax credit...

but try to find a worker??? I had some smart axxx young buck reply>>> they will not even get out of bed for less than $18 dollars per hour.... I can't/won't hire unskilled idiots for that and will not...so he gets to stay in bed...🤣
